For the past five years, there have been considerable improvements in the overall economic welfare of Tibet. The rejuvenation of key industries such as agriculture and animal husbandry proved to be quite promising considering the increase of total annual production. The restoration and installation of proper irrigation facilities greatly helped since it is widely known that there is limited arable land in the country.
Business in Tibet is also thriving and has played a chief role in generating jobs for the local inhabitants. According to statistics in 2001, around 22,278 individuals were employed by privately owned enterprises, increasing the annual job opportunities to 5, 570. Since business in Tibet has been sprouting like mushrooms, the revenues on taxes have naturally risen by 16.46 percent in 2002 alone.

Tibet has over 2,000 years of colorful history. It’s a saga that until now continues to unfold. A brief history on Tibet will show how the Tibetan people faced, fought and withstood all the events and challenges that came their way. This is why, even with the things and happenings in their country now, they are still strong and hopeful that these too shall pass.
Though they have a long cultural, spiritual and historical journey, these different aspects are interrelated, and in one way or another made an impact on a particular period in the Tibetan history. Kennel Allen, more popularly known as Admiral Tibet was born in the small parish of St. Mary in Jamaica, where also he finished his education in Free Hill Primary and Port Maria Secondary Schools. Growing up, little Kennel has always had an ardent interest in music. Early on, he was already performing on sound systems in his small town and nearby provinces at a very young age. Upon his family’s support and insistence, when was able to hone and develop his musical skills. A non-fiction story about an Austrian seized by the British while in the mountain ranges in north India and escaped across the borders to Tibet, 7 years in Tibet is a real life drama of how Heinrich Harrer and Peter Aufschnaiter entered a completely different world, where they were introduced to a different culture and a unique lifestyle and got to meet the Dalai Lama.
7 years in Tibet was a book published in 1953 and a Hollywood movie released in 1997. It is not actually a story about the Dalai Lama of Tibet, but rather, it centers on the transformation of a man, Heinrich Harrer. A true story of Harrer’s spiritual journey from a Third Reich “naughty” guy to a loving and caring person. It revolves on Harrer’s exploits from India to Tibet. As a mountain climber, he attempted to ascend the unclimbed Nanga Parbat of the Himalayas. As a husband, he left his pregnant wife behind to fulfill his climbing adventure and as a colleague, he endangered the lives of his fellow mountaineers. Unfortunately, he failed to mount the peak of Nanga Parbat and failed to return home.
